What is Cell Protoplasm Made of and Its Function

Every living species has its own kind of protoplasm, and different types of cells in the organism have their own specific forms of protoplasm. But to understand protoplasm, first we need to learn what is cell

Did you know you are many times seen cells? When the cover-up of orange breaks, soft fibers that we see are cells. If the walls of the cells are damaged, it will spill out juice.

According to the opinion of scientists, cell is the smallest unit of all living beings. Everything is live, composed of one or more cells. The cells are also stand-alone units that are taking place all environmental actions. Every cell, of any plant or animal lives its own life, but also allows the life of an individual that it builds.

Living cells of plant and animal, are composed of wall of cell, colorless mass named “protoplasm” and from one part of the protoplasm, grained, called the core. Protoplasm represents a living substance.

In fact, the protoplasm is the most complex chemical substance that there are. It carries out all the processes necessary for life. It processes nutrients and oxygen, change food into living matter, ejects used substances, renews its worn parts, and itself produces new cells.

Each cell need food and oxygen. To be able to work, it needs to get energy. In complex animals there are bloodstream which supplies every cell of the body with the necessary nutrients. Circulating, blood brings food and oxygen to cells, and concerns products that are unusable.

What is protoplasm and cytoplasm?

The secret of protoplasm is the secret of life itself. We still do not know what protoplasm makes a living substance. It is the living part of plants and animals. All organisms, plants and animals, are composed of cells. In a living organism can be millions of cells, as in the human body, or only one – like hydra, amoebas, or euglena.

But the walls of cells of all living beings wrap the same life matter – protoplasm. In every cell it consists mainly of two parts: a stronger central part which is called core and softer part which is called the cytoplasm. Cytoplasm is a thick solution that fills each cell and is enclosed by the cell membrane.

What is protoplasm made of?

Although the protoplasm is different, however, is 99 percent of its content consists of carbon, hydrogen, oxygen and nitrogen with traces of many other elements. It is composed of a mixture of small molecules such as ions, amino acids, monosaccharides and water, and macromolecules (nucleic acids, proteins, lipids and polysaccharides). Cell and Molecular Biology

Assimilation of protoplasm

When a living creature eats food, it is first digested, converted into liquid form. Then the digested food must be entered in the protoplasm and become its integral part: this is a process known as assimilation. Still do not know exactly what is happening during assimilation.

It is known that assimilation leads to the replacement of worn protoplasm and increase in the amount of it. During assimilation protoplasm built dead ingredients in living matter and change in the foreign substance like substances itself. It also builds up and releases all the energy that plants and animals have.

It is sensitive to external influences. Strong light and heat will kill it. Chemicals attract or reject the protoplasm; electric current causes it different reactions.

If science one day be discovered what runs processes in it, we will find out the secrets of life itself.

What is tissue made up of?

Cell is the smallest built-in piece of the living being. The simplest plants and animals consist only of a single cell. For more complex living things cells working together, organized into groups, each of which has its own task.
Tissue is a group of cells of the same type, which envelop a specific task. There are, for example, bone, etc. The tissues were pooled to complete a task; such group tissue called the organ. For example, the human hand is made up of different tissues; bones, muscles, nerves etc.

In the human body there are five major types of cells. Epithelial (or cover) cells build skin, glands, and lining the blood vessels. Muscle cells build three types of muscle. Nerve cells make up the brain, spinal cord and nerves. The blood cells are found in lymph. The binder of a human body form connective tissue, which is a supporting tissue.

Facts about cells and proptoplasm?

  • Protoplasm is surrounded by a plasma membrane
  • It means “protos” – first and “plasma” – thing formed
  • Hugo von Mohl suggested that word
  • It is a physical basis of life
  • It exist in two forms; a liquid-like sol state or a jelly-like gel state
