Introduction
Welcome to someinterestingfacts.net!
We share fun and surprising facts. To keep the Site running, we sometimes collect small pieces of information from visitors like you. We take your privacy seriously, use simple words to explain our rules, and always let you stay in control of your own data.
This Privacy Policy explains:
What we collect
Why we collect it
How we use it
How you can fix or delete it
We follow major privacy laws like the EU GDPR, UK GDPR, Brazil’s LGPD, and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA) — even though we don’t sell your data.
Data We Collect
Data Type | Where We Get It | Why We Need It |
---|---|---|
Email address | Newsletter form, comment box | To send newsletters, reply to questions, and detect spam |
Name or screen name | Newsletter form, comment box | To personalize emails and show who posted each comment |
IP address & browser info (pseudonymized) | Google Analytics script | To count visits, check site speed, and improve pages |
We do not collect payment info, GPS location, health details, or sensitive data.
If you only read articles and never comment or sign up, the only thing we may see is a scrambled (pseudonymized) IP address in our stats, which we can’t link back to you.
Legal Grounds
Under Article 6 of the GDPR, we rely on:
Consent – You agree when you tick a box to get the newsletter.
Legitimate Interests – We use analytics to improve the Site, prevent spam, and keep comments friendly. We reviewed these uses and believe they do not override your rights.
If you ever change your mind, you can withdraw your consent at any time (see Your Rights).
How We Use Data

We do not use your data to:

Set prices, rates, or anything that affects your rights
Sharing
We keep your data private inside our own systems, except when working with trusted partners.
Partner | What They See | Why |
---|---|---|
Google Analytics | Scrambled IP, browser type, pages visited | To understand traffic |
[Future Email Vendor] | Email and name (if we switch providers) | To send you the newsletter |
All partners must sign data protection agreements. They may not use your info for ads or marketing of their own.
Cookies & Tracking
We use two types of cookies:
Cookie Type | Purpose | How Long It Stays |
---|---|---|
Strictly Necessary | Saves your cookie choice | 6 months |
Analytics | Counts visitors and articles | 1 year |
Your Choices
When you first visit, you’ll see a small banner:
Click “OK” to allow analytics cookies
Click “Cookie Settings” to turn analytics off
If you do nothing, only the strictly necessary cookie loads.
You can also clear or block cookies any time using your browser settings.
Your Rights
Wherever you live, you have rights over your personal data.
Right | What It Means | How to Use It |
---|---|---|
Access | Ask what data we hold | Email us at [email protected] |
Correct | Fix wrong or outdated info | Same email as above |
Erase | Ask us to delete your data | Write “Delete me” in the subject line |
Move (Portability) | Get a copy of your data | We send a CSV file in 30 days |
Object / Restrict | Limit how we use your info (like cookies) | Use the cookie settings or email us |
Withdraw Consent | Stop getting the newsletter | Click “Unsubscribe” in any email, or email us |
Complain | Contact a privacy authority | EU/UK users can reach their local regulators |
We’ll answer your request within 30 days.
Children’s Privacy
We do not target or knowingly collect data from children under 13 years old.
If you’re a parent and think your child signed up without permission, please email us at [email protected] — we’ll delete their data right away.
International Transfers
Our servers are in the United States.
If you live in the EU, UK, or Brazil, that means your data may leave your country.
To protect your data:
We use Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) with any partners, or
We keep the data on our own systems with strong safeguards
You can ask for a copy of these clauses by emailing [email protected].
Security
We take your data seriously and use strong protections:
HTTPS encrypts data while it moves across the internet
AES-256 encryption protects stored files
Regular penetration tests help us find weak spots
ISO 27001-based policies guide our backups, access rules, and checks
Still, no system is perfect. If there’s ever a data breach that could affect your rights, we’ll:
Email affected users
Notify regulators (if required)
Do both within 72 hours
Retention
Data Type | How Long We Keep It |
---|---|
Newsletter list | Deleted after 12 months of no activity or if you unsubscribe |
Comment info | Public text stays, but linked email/IP is erased after 1 year |
Analytics reports | Kept for 1 year, then grouped so they can’t identify anyone |
Automated Decisions
We do not use your data for automatic decisions or profiling that has legal or major effects on you.
No AI judgment. No scoring. No targeting.
Do Not Track
Some browsers let you send a Do Not Track (DNT) request.
Because there’s no global agreement on how to respond, we currently ignore DNT signals.
However, you can still:
Use our cookie banner to turn off analytics
Block cookies in your browser
California Rights
If you live in California, the CCPA/CPRA gives you extra rights:
You can ask us to:
Know what personal info we collected in the last 12 months
Correct or delete that info
Not be treated differently for using your rights
We do not sell or share data for cross-context behavioral ads, so we don’t need a “Do Not Sell” link.
To use any of your rights, email us at [email protected].
