Most prone to diseases of all cats

Only 10% of cheetah cubs survive
Unlike some other cats, the cheetah cubs are born with distinctive points and characteristic soft and light fur that is neck stretching to mid back. Unfortunately, the mortality rate is very high during the first weeks; up to 90% of pups are killed by lions, hyenas and eagles, and they were after the thirteenth month of life on their own.

The most successful hunter

If keep running it can die…
During acceleration, body temperature of a cheetah becomes so high that it would be fatal to continue the race – this explains why the cheetah is often seen to be resting even after the catch.

It can be trained as a “hound”
A long time ago man learned to train a cheetah and use it as an assistant in the hunt. Hence comes the name that is used as a synonym for “hunting leopard”. The cheetah is thus used both in Mesopotamia and in Ancient Egypt since the time around 3000 BC. In medieval Europe, hunting with cheetahs was a luxury that could be seen only in the the royal palaces.

Cheetahs in captivity do not run faster than 65 km/h
In captivity nobody measured speed exceeding 65km/h. This is probably because it is not necessary to run for food in captivity and their muscles do not develop in the same way as in the wild. For this reason, cheetahs who are released from captivity into the wild have little chance to survive.
