How Do Broken Bones Heal Themselves

Human bone is so strong that it is a wonder at all if it breaks! Bone can bear the burden of 30 times greater than it can bear brick. The strongest bone in the human body is the lower jaw. It can withstand the load of about 1,600 kg!

However, bone is sometimes broken by the effects of the strong force. Each bone fracture has a name, depending on how the bone is broken. If it is cracked only on one part of its surface, so that its ends are still connected, then it is a crack or incomplete fracture. If the bone is completely broken into two parts, it is a simple or ordinary fracture. When the bone is broken into more than two parts, it is then a complex fracture. Bone tissue has a great ability for self-renewal. When bone fracture, its parts and soft tissue, muscles and blood vessels around the fracture are torn and injured. One part of the injured tissue dying. The whole environment of fractures, which contains bone stumps and soft tissue, is soaked in the clotted blood and lymphoma.

Only a few moments after the break, the young connective tissue cells begin to appear in the clotted mass. This is the first step in the healing of fractures. These cells multiply rapidly and soon after, in them accumulates calcium. For 72 to 96 hours after the fracture they create tissue that connects the ends of the bones.

Why Do Joints Crack?

In the newly tissues accumulate more calcium than usual. Calcium helps to re-create the hard bone, which gradually, over several months, developing into normal bone. In fractures of the limbs is usually put a cast, which prevents the movement of bones, and broken parts are touching.
