3. Tuoketuo Power Station – 5,400 MW – China
Tuoketuo Power Station is a coal-fired power plant located in Inner Mongolia in China. With an installed coal-fired generation capacity of 5,400 MW, it is the third largest coal-fired power station in the world.

It is currently owned by three separate companies, but largest part (60%) own state-owned company Datang International Power, founded 1994. Currently a 1,320 MW expansion has been proposed, and if this is realized with 6, 720 MW it will become the largest coal-powered plant in the world.

2. Bełchatów Power Station – 5,420 MW – Poland
With 5,420 MW it is the world’s second largest coal-powered station and Poland’s largest issuer of carbon dioxide. It is located in the municipality in the district of Bełchatów Kleszczów in the Lodz region in Rogowiec.

Belchatow Brown Coal Power StationIn the Bełchatów Power Plant is operated 13 power units located in two buildings; 12 power units with a capacity of 370-390 MW each and 1 power unit with a capacity of 858 MW. In terms of absolute carbon dioxide emissions Bełchatów ranks first on the list of the most harmful issuers in the European Union.

1. Taichung Power Plant – 5,500 MW – Taiwan
The Taichung Power Plant is the world’s largest coal-powered station, located in Taichung, Taiwan and also the world’s largest emitter of carbon dioxide with approximately 40 million tons annually. The plant burns 12 million tons of bituminous coal and 2.5 million tons of lignite coal annually. Much of the coal imports from Indonesia.
